SYOK HOSTEL with a colour theme of orange accents is located in Georgetown area at the corner of Lebuh Chulia. Travelling from the airport to Syok Hostel during weekdays took us about 30 minutes to reach with the rate of RM44.70.

To be honest, I'm quite apprehensive about having to stay in a hostel because of the impression of being budget-oriented would usually meant run-down, dirty and lack in facilities. However, when the moment I stepped in, I was pleasantly surprised.
The reception area gives a very warm and welcoming feeling to me. It definitely retains all the best elements of having friendly and lovely staff, comfortable beds, relaxing rooftop terrace and a lounge to relax with.
Magazines, CDs, DVDs, board games, books, comfy sofas, massage chair can be found at the communal lounge area. Breakfast like cereal. toast with complimentary teas and coffees will be provided. Not forgetting, every Saturday at 9pm there will be movie night at Syok too.
At Syok, they will always match the personalities and make all the guests feel comfortable with other guests. There are female and mixed dorms which features made to measure single bunk beds. However, if you wanted more privacy, a double room with queen size is available too.
For the ladies dorms, it includes with either 6 or 8 bunk beds while the spacious mixed dorms come with 8 super single bunk beds each.
The excellent standard of all the air-conditioned dorms include free WIFI, cotton linen, towels and blankets. There are also personal lockers with hangers and charger sockets for each bed which I personally love it. Don't you feel so easy having to charge your gadgets just beside your bed.
For the female dorms, you can find bathroom for ladies only which feature artistic wooden shower doors. It comes with separate shower cabins with instant water heaters, 2 in 1 shampoo/Shower Gel, hair dryer and lots of mirrors.
You can even iron your clothes or if you would like to wash your clothes, there is a laundry area with washing machine.
For the pricing ; mixed dorm beds are 58 ringgit per night, female dorm beds are 68 ringgit a night and the double rooms are 110 ringgit. You can check out their crazy deal or student promotion for good deal. Overall Syok is definitely a good place especially if you are going with friends.
